Colorado Standards Aligned

Earn the contact hours you need to renew your Colorado teaching license, on your own schedule. iTeachAI Academy offers standards-aligned professional development for K-12 educators, anchored to Colorado frameworks, each course three contact hours, with a Certificate of Completion that you and your district may apply toward your renewal.

Colorado requires professional teacher license holders to complete 90 contact hours of professional learning every seven years, or six semester hours of coursework, or a combination. iTeachAI Academy was founded by Dr. Janette Camacho, a 30-year K-12 educator, and every Colorado course is anchored to specific Colorado Department of Education frameworks, not generic national content. Courses are self-paced, work on any device, and are designed to be district-acceptable so educators and districts can apply them toward renewal at their discretion.

Colorado Certificate Renewal Requirements

To renew a Colorado professional teacher license, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), under Colorado State Board of Education rule, requires professional learning completed during each seven-year period:

  • 90 contact hours of applicable professional learning every seven years, or six semester hours of college or university coursework, or any combination. Colorado uses contact hours, where one semester hour equals fifteen contact hours.
  • 10 contact hours minimum on special education and behavioral health for licenses expiring on or after June 30, 2025, including at least one contact hour on behavioral health that is culturally responsive and trauma and evidence informed, and awareness of laws and practices for educating students with disabilities, including Child Find and inclusive learning environments.
  • 45 contact hours of English learner (ELL) professional learning, effective September 1, 2025, for educators renewing with elementary, English, math, science, social studies, or middle-level endorsements, regardless of current teaching assignment.
  • Renewal is submitted through the COOL (Colorado Online Licensing) portal, and professional learning may be earned through district-approved and standards-aligned professional development.

Every iTeachAI Academy course provides three IACET-aligned contact hours and a verifiable Certificate of Completion you and your district may apply toward this total. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in Colorado. Confirm with your district or the CDE Office of Educator Talent how external professional learning is documented.

How Colorado Districts Approve iTeachAI for Professional Learning

Colorado does not pre-approve individual professional development providers. Instead, educators and school districts determine what professional learning applies toward the 90 contact hour renewal requirement. iTeachAI Academy courses are aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado Teacher Quality Standards and are designed to be district-acceptable. The district route is simple:

  1. A district designee reviews one or more courses through a no-cost reviewer account.
  2. The district documents accepted courses in its professional development plan.
  3. Teachers complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and document it toward renewal at the discretion of the district or the Colorado Department of Education.

What Makes Colorado Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For Colorado School District Leadership

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, or federal programs at a Colorado district, I would be glad to send a no-cost reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before acceptance.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is iTeachAI Academy continuing education for already-licensed teachers, or initial teacher preparation?
It is continuing education for educators who are already licensed in Colorado and renewing their certificate. iTeachAI Academy provides clock hours toward your renewal. We do not prepare candidates for a first-time teaching credential and our courses do not lead to initial licensure.
How do I renew my Colorado teaching license?
Professional teacher license holders renew every seven years by completing 90 contact hours of professional learning, six semester hours of coursework, or a combination, and submitting the application and fee through the COOL (Colorado Online Licensing) portal. The Colorado Department of Education administers renewal under Colorado State Board of Education rule. iTeachAI courses provide contact hours and a Certificate of Completion you and your district may apply toward that total at your discretion.
Do iTeachAI courses count toward my 90 contact hours?
Each course provides three IACET-aligned contact hours with a Certificate of Completion suitable for documentation toward Colorado renewal. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in Colorado. Colorado does not pre-approve individual professional development; educators and districts determine what applies toward the 90 contact hours. Our courses are aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards and Colorado Teacher Quality Standards and designed to be district-acceptable. Confirm with your district or the CDE how external professional learning is documented.
How many contact hours does each course provide?
Three contact hours per course, IACET-aligned, suitable for your Colorado professional development plan and your 90 contact hour renewal total. Under Colorado equivalencies, one semester hour equals fifteen contact hours.
What does it cost in time and money?
iTeachAI keeps cost and time reasonable. Each course runs about three clock hours, is self-paced, and stays accessible for individual teachers, with district site licenses available. Email info@iteachai.co for current options.
Do you provide a certificate of completion?
Yes. Every completed course awards a verifiable Certificate of Completion with contact hours, suitable for documentation toward Colorado professional teacher license renewal at the discretion of your district or the Colorado Department of Education.
How do I get a reviewer account for my district?
Email info@iteachai.co with your district name and role. A no-cost reviewer account is provisioned within one business day.
