Connecticut Teacher Recertification, Done Online

Because great teachers never stop learning.

CSDE Standards Aligned

Earn the professional development contact hours that support your Connecticut teaching certificate renewal, on your own schedule. iTeachAI Academy offers standards-aligned professional development for K-12 educators, anchored to Connecticut frameworks, each course three contact hours, with a Certificate of Completion that documents toward the professional development your district provides.

Connecticut no longer requires individual Continuing Education Units to renew an educator certificate. Instead, Connecticut school districts are responsible for offering at least 18 hours of professional development per year to the educators they employ, tailored to each educator's needs. iTeachAI Academy was founded by Dr. Janette Camacho, a 30-year K-12 educator, and every Connecticut course is anchored to specific Connecticut State Department of Education frameworks, not generic national content. Courses are self-paced, work on any device, and are built to fit the professional development your district records.

Connecticut Certificate Renewal Requirements

Connecticut educator certificate renewal is governed by the Regulations of the Connecticut State Board of Education and administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), Bureau of Certification. The model is different from most states: there is no individual continuing education unit requirement for renewal.

  • No CEUs required for renewal. As of July 1, 2012, Continuing Education Units are no longer required to renew or maintain a Connecticut Professional educator certificate.
  • 18 hours of professional development each year. Since July 1, 2013, Connecticut school districts are responsible for offering at least 18 hours of professional development per year to the educators they employ, tailored to individual educator needs, and for tracking it.
  • Certificate terms. The Initial certificate is valid for a defined term and may be extended; the Professional certificate continues with proper maintenance. The Provisional certificate can no longer be issued or renewed as of July 1, 2025, and those educators apply instead for an Initial certificate.
  • How you renew. Renewal is completed through the Connecticut Educator Certification System (C.E.C.S.), or by paper form (ED 179 for the Professional certificate, ED 183 for the Initial certificate). There is no cost to renew a Professional certificate.
  • Priority content areas. Connecticut districts commonly direct professional development toward literacy and the science of reading, social-emotional learning and student mental health, culturally responsive practice, and educator technology and digital learning.

Approval note. iTeachAI Academy is not a formally state-approved provider in Connecticut, and no Connecticut state agency has approved iTeachAI. Our courses are standards-aligned, district-acceptable professional development that educators and districts may apply toward the 18-hour district professional development at their discretion. Every course provides three IACET-aligned contact hours and a verifiable Certificate of Completion. Please verify acceptance with your district professional development office or the CSDE Bureau of Certification.

How Connecticut Districts Approve iTeachAI for Professional Development Hours

Connecticut places the professional development decision with the local school district, which offers and tracks at least 18 hours per year for each educator it employs. iTeachAI Academy courses are aligned to Connecticut frameworks and built to fit that district professional development record. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider, so the district route matters and it is simple:

  1. A district designee reviews one or more courses through a no-cost reviewer account.
  2. The district documents approved courses on its professional development plan and record.
  3. Teachers complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and submit it for their district professional development record.

What Makes Connecticut Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For Connecticut School District Leadership

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, or federal programs at a Connecticut district, I would be glad to send a no-cost reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before approval.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.
