Minnesota Certificate Renewal Requirements

To renew a Minnesota teaching license, the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) requires approved clock hours completed during each renewal period:

  • 125 clock hours every five years for a Tier 4 (standard professional) teaching license.
  • 75 clock hours every three years for a Tier 3 teaching license.
  • Renewal is submitted through the Minnesota online educator licensing system, and clock hours are reviewed and approved by your local continuing education or relicensure committee, typically your district professional development coordinator.
  • Mandatory training topics that must be addressed within your clock hours include positive behavioral interventions and supports, accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, reading preparation, key warning signs of early-onset mental illness, suicide prevention, English Language Learners (ELL), cultural competency, and American Indian history and culture.
  • Minnesota converts academic study at a rate of one graduate semester credit to fifteen clock hours.

Every iTeachAI Academy course provides three clock hours and a verifiable Certificate of Completion you can document toward this total. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in Minnesota; confirm with your local continuing education committee how external clock hours are recorded.

How Minnesota Districts Approve iTeachAI for Clock Hours

In Minnesota, educator clock hours are approved at the local level. Each school district and charter network operates a continuing education or relicensure committee that reviews professional development and approves clock hours for its educators. iTeachAI Academy courses are standards-aligned and designed to support that local approval. The district route is simple:

  1. A district designee or relicensure committee member reviews one or more courses through a no-cost reviewer account.
  2. The committee approves and documents the clock hours on its continuing education record.
  3. Teachers complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and submit it for renewal credit through the online educator licensing system.

What Makes Minnesota Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For Minnesota School District Leadership

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, or federal programs at a Minnesota district, or serve on a continuing education or relicensure committee, I would be glad to send a no-cost reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before approval.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.
