Montana OPI Standards Aligned

Earn the renewal units you need to renew your Montana teaching license, on your own schedule. iTeachAI Academy offers standards-aligned professional development for K-12 educators, anchored to Montana frameworks, each course providing three contact hours, with a Certificate of Completion you can document toward your professional development units (PDUs).

Montana requires licensed educators to complete 60 renewal units, called professional development units (PDUs), during each five-year licensure cycle. iTeachAI Academy was founded by Dr. Janette Camacho, a 30-year K-12 educator, and every Montana course is anchored to specific Montana frameworks, not generic national content. Courses are self-paced, work on any device, and are designed as district-acceptable professional development that educators and districts may apply toward renewal at their discretion.

Montana Certificate Renewal Requirements

To renew a Montana educator license, the Office of Public Instruction (OPI) requires renewal units, called professional development units (PDUs), completed during each five-year licensure cycle:

  • 60 renewal units (PDUs) for Class 1, 2, 3, and 6 licenses, every five years, or any combination of PDUs and semester college credits.
  • One hour of approved class, conference, or workshop instruction equals one PDU, and one semester college credit equals 15 PDUs.
  • PDUs must be earned during the five years the license being renewed is valid, through August 31 of the year the license expires.
  • Renewals are submitted to OPI through the TeachMT (TMT) licensing system at teachmontana.com.
  • Most license classes have no specific mandated PDU topics. Class 4 career and technical education licenses require PDUs in career and technical education curriculum and instruction, and in safety and teacher liability.

Every iTeachAI Academy course provides three IACET-aligned contact hours and a verifiable Certificate of Completion you can document toward your PDU total. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in Montana, and no state agency has approved iTeachAI. Confirm with your district and OPI how your PDUs are recorded and accepted.

How Montana Districts Approve iTeachAI for PDU Hours

iTeachAI Academy is not a state-approved provider in Montana, and no state agency has approved iTeachAI. Montana school districts independently approve and document professional development for their educators under district policy, and educators submit PDUs to OPI through TeachMT. Our courses are anchored to Montana Content Standards and Indian Education for All, and are designed as district-acceptable professional development. The district route is simple:

  1. A district designee reviews one or more courses through a no-cost reviewer account.
  2. The district documents acceptable courses in its professional development records.
  3. Teachers complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and document the contact hours toward their PDU total, then submit through TeachMT.

Educators and districts apply these courses toward renewal at their discretion. Verify acceptance with your district and the Office of Public Instruction.

What Makes Montana Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For Montana School District Leadership

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, or federal programs at a Montana district, I would be glad to send a no-cost reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before deciding whether to accept it.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is iTeachAI Academy continuing education for already-licensed teachers, or initial teacher preparation?
It is continuing education for educators who are already licensed in Montana and renewing their certificate. iTeachAI Academy provides clock hours toward your renewal. We do not prepare candidates for a first-time teaching credential and our courses do not lead to initial licensure.
How do I renew my Montana teaching certificate?
Montana licensed educators renew on a five-year cycle by completing 60 renewal units, which OPI calls professional development units (PDUs), and submitting the renewal through the TeachMT (TMT) licensing system at teachmontana.com. One hour of approved instruction equals one PDU, and one semester college credit equals 15 PDUs. iTeachAI Academy courses award a Certificate of Completion with contact hours you can document toward your PDU total at your district's and OPI's discretion.
Do iTeachAI courses count toward my 60 renewal units (PDUs)?
iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in Montana, and no state agency has approved iTeachAI. Our courses are standards-aligned, district-acceptable professional development. Each course awards a Certificate of Completion with documented contact hours that educators and districts may apply toward the 60 PDU renewal total at their discretion. Confirm with your district and the Office of Public Instruction how your PDUs are recorded and accepted.
How many contact hours does each course provide?
Three IACET-aligned contact hours per course, documented on a verifiable Certificate of Completion suitable for your district's professional development records and your Montana PDU renewal total. Because OPI counts one hour of approved instruction as one PDU, your completion record documents the contact hours involved.
What does it cost in time and money?
iTeachAI keeps cost and time reasonable. Each course runs about three clock hours, is self-paced, and stays accessible for individual teachers, with district site licenses available. Email info@iteachai.co for current options.
Do you provide a certificate of completion?
Yes. Every completed course awards a verifiable Certificate of Completion with contact hours, suitable for documentation toward Montana educator license renewal at your district's and OPI's discretion.
How do I get a reviewer account for my district?
Email info@iteachai.co with your district name and role. A no-cost reviewer account is provisioned within one business day.
