NCDPI Standards Aligned

Earn renewal credit toward the CEUs you need to renew your North Carolina teaching license, on your own schedule. iTeachAI Academy offers standards-aligned professional development for K-12 educators, anchored to North Carolina frameworks, each course three clock hours, with a Certificate of Completion that documents toward your license renewal.

North Carolina requires Continuing Professional License holders to earn 8 units of renewal credit, called CEUs, every five years, where one CEU equals 10 clock hours of professional development. iTeachAI Academy was founded by Dr. Janette Camacho, a 30-year K-12 educator, and every North Carolina course is anchored to specific North Carolina Department of Public Instruction frameworks, not generic national content. Courses are self-paced, work on any device, and are designed to fit the North Carolina district in-service and renewal-credit pathways.

North Carolina Certificate Renewal Requirements

To renew a North Carolina Continuing Professional License (CPL), the North Carolina State Board of Education, administered through the Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), requires renewal credit earned during each five-year cycle:

  • 8 units of renewal credit (CEUs) are required to renew a current or expired Continuing Professional License, every five years.
  • One CEU equals 10 clock hours of professional development, so 8 CEUs equal 80 clock hours.
  • Grades K-5 teachers: at least 3 of the 8 CEUs must be in literacy, reflecting North Carolina's Science of Reading focus under the Excellent Public Schools Act.
  • Grades 6-12 teachers: CEUs in the educator's academic subject area plus general credits relevant to the license area.
  • Renewal is governed by State Board of Education Policy LICN-005, and renewal credit is submitted through the NCDPI Online Licensure System. Acceptable activities include local in-service courses and workshops certified by your school system or Local Education Agency, accredited semester credit, and National Board certification.

Every iTeachAI Academy course provides three clock hours and a verifiable Certificate of Completion you can document toward this total. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in North Carolina, so educators and districts may apply our courses toward renewal at their discretion. Confirm with your district licensure designee or the NCDPI Licensure office how external professional development is recorded.

How North Carolina Districts Accept iTeachAI for Renewal Credit

North Carolina recognizes renewal credit at the district level. School systems and Local Education Agencies certify local in-service courses and workshops for their educators, and these count toward the 8-CEU renewal requirement. iTeachAI Academy courses are aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and the Professional Teaching Standards, and the district route is simple:

  1. A district designee reviews one or more courses through a no-cost reviewer account.
  2. The district or LEA certifies approved courses as local in-service professional development.
  3. Teachers complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and submit it for renewal credit through the NCDPI Online Licensure System.

iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider in North Carolina. Districts and educators apply these courses toward renewal at their discretion. We recommend verifying acceptance with your district or the NCDPI Licensure office.

What Makes North Carolina Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For North Carolina School District Leadership

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, or federal programs at a North Carolina district or LEA, I would be glad to send a no-cost reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before approval.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is iTeachAI Academy continuing education for already-licensed teachers, or initial teacher preparation?
It is continuing education for educators who are already licensed in North Carolina and renewing their certificate. iTeachAI Academy provides clock hours toward your renewal. We do not prepare candidates for a first-time teaching credential and our courses do not lead to initial licensure.
How do I renew my North Carolina teaching certificate?
Continuing Professional License holders renew every five years by earning 8 units of renewal credit (CEUs), where one CEU equals 10 clock hours of professional development, and submitting the renewal through the NCDPI Online Licensure System. Renewal is governed by the North Carolina State Board of Education under Policy LICN-005 and administered by NCDPI. For grades K-5, at least 3 of the 8 CEUs must be in literacy. iTeachAI courses provide clock hours and a Certificate of Completion you document toward that total, at your district's and the state's discretion.
Do iTeachAI courses count toward my 8 CEUs?
Each course provides three clock hours of standards-aligned professional development with a Certificate of Completion. North Carolina accepts local in-service courses certified by your school system or LEA toward renewal. iTeachAI is not a state-approved provider, so educators and districts may apply our courses at their discretion. Confirm with your district licensure designee or the NCDPI Licensure office how external professional development is recorded.
How many clock hours does each course provide?
Three clock hours per course. Because one North Carolina CEU equals 10 clock hours, courses are designed to be documented and combined toward your renewal total, subject to district and state acceptance.
What does it cost in time and money?
iTeachAI keeps cost and time reasonable. Each course runs about three clock hours, is self-paced, and stays accessible for individual teachers, with district site licenses available. Email info@iteachai.co for current options.
Do you provide a certificate of completion?
Yes. Every completed course awards a verifiable Certificate of Completion with contact hours, suitable for documentation toward North Carolina educator license renewal at your district's and the state's discretion.
How do I get a reviewer account for my district?
Email info@iteachai.co with your district name and role. A no-cost reviewer account is provisioned within one business day.
