The New York Professional Development Pathways

New York requires 100 CTLE hours per five-year renewal cycle for educators holding Professional or Permanent certificates. CTLE hours can be earned through NYSED-approved sponsors, school districts, BOCES, or institutions of higher education. Different educator populations across the state work through different recognition pathways:

NYC Department of Education (75,000 teachers) maintains its own internal PD recognition tied to Chancellor's Regulations and the NYC Framework for Great Schools. NYC DOE schools and superintendents can adopt iTeachAI courses for their staff under existing NYC DOE professional development authority.

BOCES regional partnerships serve clusters of districts in 37 regions across New York. A single BOCES can purchase a regional license that grants member districts access, with the BOCES handling local PD documentation.

Individual district PD plans are valid under NY education law for educator effectiveness and licensure documentation, even prior to CTLE sponsor approval. Districts can adopt iTeachAI courses through their own PD authority.

NYSED CTLE sponsor approval is in formal application review (April 2026). Upon approval, all 25 courses will be recognized as official CTLE hours statewide.

How New York Districts and BOCES Approve iTeachAI Courses

  1. A district designee, BOCES PD coordinator, or NYC DOE school administrator reviews one or more courses through a free reviewer account.
  2. The entity (district, BOCES, or NYC DOE school) approves selected courses for use with its own educators under its existing professional development authority.
  3. The entity documents approved courses in its local PD plan and informs faculty.
  4. Participating educators complete courses, receive a Certificate of Completion, and submit it for credit toward CTLE hours (pending NYSED sponsor approval), BOCES regional records, NYC DOE internal PD documentation, or district licensure renewal records.

What Makes New York Coursework Different at iTeachAI

For New York Superintendents, BOCES Coordinators, and NYC DOE Leaders

If you direct curriculum, professional learning, BOCES PD, or NYC DOE instruction, I would be glad to send a free reviewer account so a designee can audit any course end to end before approval.

I will also share a sample certificate, the course catalog with descriptions, and a fifteen-minute call at your convenience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is iTeachAI Academy a NYSED CTLE sponsor?
Our CTLE sponsor application is in formal review with NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives (April 2026). Until that approval is granted, our courses are recognized through three alternative pathways: NYC DOE internal professional development plans (which do not require CTLE), BOCES regional partnerships, and individual district professional development plans for educator effectiveness purposes.
How many CTLE hours does each course provide?
Three clock hours per course, IACET-aligned, equivalent to three CTLE hours upon NYSED sponsor approval. New York educators need 100 CTLE hours per five-year renewal cycle for Professional and Permanent certificates.
What does it cost?
Each course is $25. The full New York bundle of 25 courses is $499 (a $126 savings). District site licenses and BOCES regional partnerships are available on request.
Does this work for NYC DOE educators?
Yes. NYC DOE maintains its own internal professional development plan and recognizes courses that align with Chancellor's Regulations and NYC educator effectiveness frameworks. iTeachAI courses are anchored to A-750 (mandated reporter), Chancellor's Regulations on DASA, and the NYC Framework for Great Schools. Individual schools and superintendents can adopt courses for their staff under existing NYC DOE PD authority.
How do BOCES partnerships work?
New York's 37 BOCES can purchase a regional license that grants access to all member districts. One BOCES partnership can reach 30 to 70 districts and 5,000+ teachers in a single contract, with the BOCES handling local PD documentation.
How is iTeachAI different from MagicSchool, Khanmigo, or ISTE U?
iTeachAI is built by a former 28-year K-12 educator and anchors every course to actual New York frameworks, not generic national content. We provide three-clock-hour courses suitable for New York district, BOCES, and NYC DOE documentation, not just AI tools.
Do you provide a certificate of completion?
Yes. Every completed course awards a Certificate of Completion suitable for documentation toward CTLE hours (post NYSED approval), BOCES regional records, NYC DOE internal PD documentation, or individual district licensure renewal records.
How do I get a reviewer account for my district or BOCES?
Email Dr. Janette Camacho at janette.camacho@iteachai.co with your district or BOCES name and role. A free reviewer account is provisioned within one business day.
